Paul Reed Smith Guitars unveiled a limited run of solid body electrics featuring the new 1957/2008 pickups during the Experience PRS open house event in Stevensville, Maryland September 19. PRS acquired exclusive rights to the original pickup wire used in the most revered '50s era pickups in 2008, and 1957 was the year the humbucker was first commercially available, giving rise to the name for PRS Guitars' newest and most exclusive pickup.

Piens MusicPlanet in Belgium offers the Custom 22 as part of the 1957/2008 Limited Run. This special run is limited to 750 guitars from which is offered number #137, hand signed by Paul Reed Smith himself. It is uniquely equipped with exclusive 3-position switch and push/pull knob and is amongst the only models that come standard with 1957/2008 pickups. Further features are abalone birds neck inlays, blueberry finish and customized hard case. This limited edition guitar offers that specific quality for PRS customers in need of the 1957/2008 sound.

Paul Reed Smith joked during the open house and said "Think of it this way. We're selling you access to these exclusive pickups and giving you a free guitar and case to go with them."
